Brilliance

Every so often, a comedian shines wit, timing, and truth with such dazzling clarity that one's only response is to put the clip on one's blog. Stephen Colbert has given us such a gift. Enjoy. (Warning: there is a reference to "intersexuals" that you just need to be warned about. Not a clip I'd watch with my son Caleb in the room. Hopefully the last line redeems it all.)

I LOVED that! Thanks Mike. It made good, wicked fun of both sides and that was it's brilliance. I'm going to send this to my friends outside the U.S.- they will especially enjoy it.

A note: I don't think it's kind to "warn" about a reference to intersexuals (is that really the PC term for hermaphrodites now?). This is a real thing that individuals and families struggle with. Taking the train to Boston last year for the Marathon I sat beside an older woman who spent her career as a physician specializing in identifying the gender of newborns where the genetalia are ambiguous. She spoke of how hard it is to break this news to the new parents. I think the difficulty is inpart due to society's prejudice and cruelty. Maybe someday that will be a thing of the past. I know you didn't mean it this way, but I'm just saying....
